Despite being left out of Pakistan’s T20I squad for the ongoing T20I series against New Zealand after the team’s poor performance in the 2025 Champions Trophy, they opted against participating in the domestic competition. Their decision drew heavy backlash, with Bakht urging PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi to take strong action against the senior players. He even suggested that their central contracts should be cancelled due to their decision not to play in the PCB’s premier tournament. ‘The buck stops with PCB’ Sikander Bakht was quoted as saying by Geo Super, “They are employees of the Pakistan Cricket Board.
