Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma ignored as Virender Sehwag predicts IPL 2025 MVP

Legendary India opener Virender Sehwag made a bold claim when he was asked to predict the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of IPL 2025. Sehwag picked Delhi Capitals’ new recruit KL Rahul to top the run-scoring charts and become the MVP for the season. The former India batter also picked the mystery spinner Varun Chakravarthy to win the Purple Cap this season. When asked to predict the IPL 2025 winner, Virender Sehwag picked a team that is yet to win a title so far. Virender Sehwag picks this player to win MVP award While speaking on Cricbuzz, Virender Sehwag was asked to predict the winners of the Orange Cap, Purple Cap, and MVP award for the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League. He picked KL Rahul to win the Orange Cap and feels that he has the potential to be the MVP as well. “KL Rahul jis form mein hai, vo top run getter ho sakte hai (The kind of form KL Rahul is in, he can be the top run-getter). Umeed hai ki KL Rahul agar top run getter honge toh vo he Most Valuable Player bhi honge,” said Sehwag. When asked about the highest wicket-taker, Sehwag picked Varun Chakravarthy to win the award for the Purple Cap. Chakravarthy has been in fine form with the ball lately and also had an exceptional year with KKR in IPL 2024. “Varun Chakaravarthy hai, vo shayad top wicket-taker ho sakte hai (Varun Chakaravarthy is there; he can be the top wicket-taker),” the former India opener added. Both Rahul and Chakravarthy played key roles in India’s Champions Trophy wins recently. Rahul played valuable cameos down the order with the bat while Chakravarthy emerged as the second-highest wicket-taker of the tournament. Lucknow Super Giants have a solid batting order with the likes of Aiden Markram, Rishabh Pant, Nicholas Pooran, and David Miller. They signed Pant for a massive amount of INR 27 crore which made him the most expensive player in IPL history. KKR to face RCB in season opener The 18th edition of IPL will begin on March 22 with the defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders taking on Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the opening match. The next day will see a double-header with Mumbai Indians taking on the arch-rivals Chennai Super Kings. Lucknow Super Giants will begin their campaign on March 24 against Delhi Capitals in Visakhapatnam.
