CSK spinner Ravichandran Ashwin witnessed the stunning atmosphere in Chennai for the first time when MS Dhoni walked out to bat during the match against the Mumbai Indians. The offspinner spoke about the festive atmosphere as the crowd favorite arrived at the crease. Ravichandran Ashwin might have seen this kind of atmosphere earlier, but to witness it from CSK’s dugout was a surreal feeling for him. He even claimed that the CSK players forgot about the tight game situation for some time after seeing such a reception for MS Dhoni. Ravichandran Ashwin makes a shocking revelation on MS Dhoni’s arrival After the match, Ravichandran Ashwin narrated the whole atmosphere on his YouTube channel. He revealed that the team forgot that the game was on the line, and it took them some time to get back into the match situation. “When MS Dhoni came out to bat in Chennai, there was so much noise and chaos that we forgot the situation of the game altogether. MS Dhoni has earned the love. It was for the first time I was seeing that reception from the CSK dressing room, I always saw it from the outside,” mentioned Ashwin. MS Dhoni has always been a crowd favorite wherever he travels across the country. But the love and reception that he receives from the Chennai crowd have always been surreal. Ashwin witnessed this thing for the first time as he had just returned to CSK colors this season. Ashwin started his IPL journey for Chennai Super Kings and played for the franchise from 2009 to 2015. He was further released by CSK, and he went on to play for several other franchises like Rising Pune Supergiants, Punjab Kings, Delhi Capitals, and Rajasthan Royals before coming back to his home franchise. Ravichandran Ashwin on the CSK dugout While speaking further in the same video, Ravichandran Ashwin revealed how everyone was just focused on MS Dhoni despite the game in a tight situation. “I was padded up, I was the next batter. I went inside and asked Ruturaj (Gaikwad) how the wicket was and all that was because we still needed 4 runs, but everyone forgot that a match was on the line,” he remembered. Ashwin would have been the next batter to arrive at the crease had another wicket fallen. However, MS Dhoni played out the penultimate over of the match, bowled by the offspinner Naman Dhir, safely. Rachin Ravindra smashed the first ball of the final over of the match to seal the game for his team. Ravindra remained unbeaten on 65 off 45 balls to see his side home with Dhoni unbeaten on 0 at the other end. CSK begin with a win CSK started their IPL 2025 campaign with a brilliant win over arch-rivals Mumbai Indians. The home team was cruising to the win before the left-arm wristspinner Vignesh Puthur showed his skills to take the game deep. However, Rachin Ravindra stayed till the end to finish the game with a six. Skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad also scored a fine 53 off just 26 balls while batting at No. 3 as Chennai started their campaign on a positive note.
