MS Dhoni leaks private conversations with Virat Kohli

MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli have been long-time admirers of each other’s game. Both of them share a great camaraderie with each other and that has been displayed on the cricket field, especially during the Indian Premier League. The IPL is a platform where both the legends, MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli, are often seen chatting with each other, especially when the arch-rivals Chennai Super Kings and Royal Challengers Bengaluru are playing against each other. Recently, Dhoni opened up about the conversation between the two and revealed how they became friends despite Kohli being a junior. Dhoni also praised Kohli for his utter commitment right from his playing days. MS Dhoni hails Virat Kohli’s hunger to perform During a conversation on JioHotstar, MS Dhoni opened up about how his relationship with Virat Kohli has grown over the years. He hailed Kohli’s hunger to be the best and claimed that he had always wanted more success. “Right from the start, Virat (Kohli) was someone who wanted to contribute. He was never satisfied with scoring just 40 or 60 runs—he always aimed for a century and wanted to remain not out till the end. That hunger for success was there from the beginning,” Dhoni said. The former India captain explained how Kohli worked on his game to become the best in the world. According to Dhoni, Kohli’s eagerness to learn and the will to be at the top makes him different from the other players. Kohli made a drastic transition after a point and vowed himself to be the best in the world. He took every challenge head-on when he was a youngster and faced many challenges. However, Kohli dominated every challenge through his hard work and determination. How did they deal with run-chases? MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli have been involved in many successful run-chases in the past for India. During this conversation, Dhoni spoke about the conversations between the two of them as they discussed various match situations with themselves. “He would come and discuss situations, analyzing what he could have done differently. For example, in a run chase, if he got out at a crucial moment, he would talk about whether he could have delayed taking a risk by an over or handled the situation differently,” the CSK wicketkeeper said. “We had many conversations, and that helped both of us. It was always an honest exchange of ideas—whether a certain approach was right or if an adjustment could have been made,” he recalled. Both Dhoni and Kohli are regarded as the best finishers to have ever played the game. Both the players have incredible records while chasing down a score in both the white-ball formats which makes them a unique asset for their team. “We became friends” – MS Dhoni on his relationship with Virat Kohli When asked about their conversation during the IPL, MS Dhoni revealed that both of them have become friends over the years. He further mentioned that both he and Virat Kohli get to talk to each other a lot more now that they are not the captains of their respective franchises. “Initially, it was more of a relationship between a captain and a young player, but over time, as we kept interacting, we became friends. Even today, we share that bond, though there’s always a line of respect between a senior and a junior,” said Dhoni. “Now that neither of us is captain, we get more time to talk before matches. Earlier, before the toss, we had to prepare and go, but now we can just stand and have a chat,” he added. Both MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli will be seen playing against each other on March 28 when CSK face RCB in Chennai. Both the teams have started their campaign with a win and will be high on confidence.
