BCCI Implements Stricter Guidelines for IPL 2025
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced new and stricter guidelines for players and officials participating in the upcoming Indian Premier League 2025 (IPL 2025). These guidelines aim to streamline operations and ensure a smooth and professional environment throughout the tournament.
Travel and Dressing Room Guidelines
One of the major changes introduced by the BCCI is the mandatory use of the team bus for travel to practice sessions. This requirement, previously followed by Team India, is now extended to all IPL 2025 players. The BCCI has shared these new guidelines with all ten franchises and their team managers to ensure compliance.
Furthermore, a surprising change has been made regarding the players’ families. Starting from IPL 2025, family members of players and support staff will not be allowed to enter the dressing rooms, even on practice days. This move is aimed at maintaining a professional atmosphere within the team areas.
On-Field Guidelines
In addition to the travel and dressing room rules, the BCCI has implemented specific guidelines for on-field activities during matches. Players are now required to wear orange and purple caps for at least two overs during games and post-match presentation ceremonies. Sleeveless jerseys are also prohibited during these ceremonies to uphold a certain level of decorum.
Moreover, fitness tests on the main pitch before matches have been restricted. Previously, team physios would conduct fitness tests on the match pitch just before the start of the game. This change aims to ensure that the pitch remains in the best possible condition for the match.
Practice Rules for IPL 2025
For practice sessions during IPL 2025, each team will be assigned two nets in the practice area along with one side wicket on the main square for range hitting. Open nets will not be allowed, and all practice sessions must be conducted in designated areas. No practice will be allowed on match days to preserve the ground’s condition.
If both teams are practicing simultaneously at the Mumbai venue, they will each receive two wickets. Only accredited staff will be allowed in the dressing room and on the field during practice sessions. Family members and friends of players can watch practice from the hospitality area and must use separate vehicles.
Match Day Guidelines
On match days, all Player and Match Officials Areas (PMOA)-accredited staff must carry their accreditation. Players must wear orange and purple caps for the first two overs of the game for TV broadcast purposes. Floppy hats and sleeveless jerseys are not allowed during the post-match presentation ceremonies.
Teams are urged to follow the guidelines to avoid fines. Only 12 accredited support staff, including the team doctor, will be allowed on match days. The sponsorship team will mark designated areas for substitutes carrying towels and water bottles.
With these new guidelines in place, the BCCI is ensuring a high standard of professionalism and adherence to rules and regulations throughout IPL 2025.
